How big can I print my image?

Divide each pixel dimension by your target DPI. A 3000 × 2400 px photo at 300 DPI prints 10 × 8 in. The calculator shows the size in inches and millimetres and flags whether the resolution is sharp enough.

How many pixels do I need for a print size?

Multiply the print dimension (in inches) by the DPI. A 4 × 6 in print at 300 DPI needs 1200 × 1800 px. The calculator computes this for any size and DPI.

Does changing DPI change my file?

DPI by itself is just metadata describing intended print density; it doesn't add pixels. To enlarge without losing sharpness you need more pixels, not a higher DPI tag. This calculator shows the real print size your pixels support.
