A postcard background stops at the cut edge. Add the 3 mm bleed requested for this example job, compare the extension methods and inspect all four corners before imposition.
A clear path to print
Your artwork stays on your device.
Your layout stays in your control.
Check the trim and any existing bleed. Look for text, borders or detailed imagery touching the edge.
Enter the extra bleed to add and compare Mirror, Stretch and Repeat in the preview.
Inspect the extension at high zoom, then use the result in the relevant imposition tool.
A little print know-how
A few things to check before you send your job to the printer.
Read the Add Bleed guideThe 3 mm example is a starting scenario, not a universal requirement. Enter the bleed required for your actual job.
Mirroring or stretching cannot invent the intended continuation of a photograph or restore content cut off in the source.
The extension sits outside the trim. The finished trim size stays the same while the outer page area grows.
Mirror reflects the edge; Stretch extends it; Repeat repeats edge content. Compare the preview and choose the least visible result for that artwork.
The amount is additional bleed to add. Check the existing-bleed note first so you do not add more than the job requires.
No. Text and other critical content need safe space inside the trim. Correct the source design when essential content is too close to the cut.
