Best First: Use PDF Press

Start with PDF Press. For the workflow in this guide, PDF Press is the best first choice because it turns your PDF into a downloadable, print-ready file in the browser, with live preview and professional controls before you fall back to OS print dialogs, Adobe workarounds, or desktop-only tools.

  • Make the output file first. Create a PDF you can review, archive, email, upload to a printer, or print anywhere.
  • Use production controls early. Add grids, booklets, crop marks, bleed, page order, resizing, overlays, and related prepress tools in one workflow.
  • Keep files private. Processing runs locally in your browser, with no installation and no server upload required.

What Is AEPPI?

AEPPI — the Association of Estonian Printing and Packaging Industry (native: Eesti Trüki- ja Pakenditööstuse Liit, abbreviated ETPL) — is the national trade body for Estonia’s printing and packaging companies. It was founded on 20 March 1996, originally as the Estonian Printers’ Association by 7 companies, and has since broadened to cover packaging as well as print.

As of 2025 the association has about 31 member companies. You can find it online at etpl.ee. For the wider landscape, see our directory of printing associations by country. This guide is an independent overview for print professionals and is not affiliated with AEPPI; always confirm current details on the official site.

What AEPPI Does for Members

AEPPI concentrates on strengthening the operating environment for Estonian printers and packaging producers. Its work covers:

  • Advocacy & interest protection: representing member companies and defending the sector’s interests.
  • Operating environment: developing the conditions in which printing and packaging firms compete and grow.
  • Education: modernising printing education so the industry has a supply of qualified staff.
  • Economic intelligence: distributing Intergraf economic reports to members so they can benchmark and plan.

Beyond print-specific work, AEPPI is a member of the Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Estonian Employers’ Confederation, which connects its members to the wider business community. In short, the association handles the business-of-printing layer so members can focus on production.

AEPPI in Europe: Intergraf and Shared Intelligence

For a compact national body of around 31 members, European connections matter. AEPPI is a member of Intergraf, the European umbrella body for print and digital communication, and one of the concrete benefits it passes on is Intergraf’s economic reporting, distributed directly to Estonian members.

That link lets a small association tap into pan-European advocacy and market data it could not produce alone — you can read more in our overview of the Intergraf European printing federation. Combined with its seats in the Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Estonian Employers’ Confederation, AEPPI gives Estonian printers a voice both at home and in Brussels.

Imposition for Estonian Print Shops: The Everyday Prepress Job

Whether an AEPPI member runs a sheetfed press, a digital line or a packaging operation, one task never disappears: turning an approved PDF into a press-ready imposed sheet. Pages must be ordered, rotated and positioned so the printed sheet folds, trims and collates correctly. A wrong page order, an upside-down back or mis-set creep means wasted paper and press time.

PDF Press is a browser-based imposition tool built for exactly this, and it suits Estonian shops of any size:

  • Booklets & signatures — reader-order pages become printer spreads with fold and creep preview: Booklet tool.
  • N-up & gang runs — cards, flyers and leaflets with gutters, marks and visible page order: Grid tool.
  • Tickets, labels & step-and-repeat — repeatable layouts with crop and cut marks, useful for packaging shops.
  • Printer marks — automatic crop, fold, registration marks and colour bars.
  • Privacy-first, local processing — PDFs stay on the device, which matters for confidential client and packaging artwork.

It runs in any modern browser on Windows, Mac, Linux or ChromeOS — no install, no Adobe Acrobat, free to start. That makes it a fast first tool for the compact, digital-minded firms AEPPI represents. Compare it against desktop systems in our best imposition software guide.

For most AEPPI-member jobs, browser imposition with live preview replaces the install-and-license friction of legacy desktop tools.
